Backpack Diaper Bags
Is a backpack diaper bag the right
choice for you and your baby? Well…okay for you then? It really depends.
Personally I only use our backpack
diaper bag when we go on family outings. For example if we go on a hike, hit the mall, walk the beach etc. There
are a couple reasons for this.
First, when we are doing anything
active it is nice to have the diaper bag on your back vs. a tote that is swinging and bumping against your
thighs.
Second, and again when being active
it is nice to have the weight of the bag properly distributed on my back vs. having a tote that is hanging off
to one side.
Third, when we are just heading to
the grocery store or some other quick little adventure the tote is super nice in that I can just reach down and
grab what ever we need quickly. I don’t have to stop, take of the pack, kneel down and search what I am looking
for as I would with the backpack diaper bag.
If you have not caught my drift yet
I would recommend having both. Diaper bags are not that expensive, unless you go with the trendy diaper bags. It
really does make a difference when you live an active lifestyle to have the backpack bags.
If you are planning on buying a backpack diaper bag here are some tips to help
you find the right pack
Make sure the pack can be cleaned
easily. In most cases the bag will be made of nylon, polyester, canvas, leather or faux leather. I would
recommend staying away from the leather as it stains easy and is heavier than the other materials
mentioned.
Make sure the pack is
compartmentalized. In other words make sure the pack has lots of pockets and is split into multiple sections so
that you can stay organized and find what you are looking for easily.
Buy a pack with nice thick and comfy
shoulder straps. You would be surprised how much all that baby stuff weighs. Skinny straps will dig into your
shoulders. Don’t skimp on this option.
Finally consider size. The bigger
the backpack diaper bag the more you
can cram into it. The more you cram into it the heavier it will be. With a smaller bag you will really need to
make clear focused decision on what to pack.
